How does this fit in my g-cal?

It may or may not come to a surprise to you that I am obsessed with my google calendar. The damn thing is color coded and I’m not sure what I would do with myself if google suddenly lost the data that keeps my life organized. Would I ever see a dentist or my daughter again? How would I know it was yoga time or gym time? (RIP gym)

Perhaps time would just cease to exist?!

For some reason I managed to schedule most of my 2018 travel into 5 weeks. yup, just five. There was a wedding and trip to Chicago. A long weekend in Charleston. Oh and nbd, just a little trip to Bali with a bunch of friends from all over the country. All of these things had been carefully balanced around my work schedule and my custody schedule. There wasn’t a lot of budge room in timing for those 5 weeks.

Then here comes Uncle Joey wanting all this special treatment and calendar hierarchy. Woah, woah, woah Joey, let me see if I can squeeze you in between arm day and leg day.

In the “death to uncle joey center” (SCCA) nobody bothers to consult me about my gcal before just scheduling me in and saying “be here at this time” – excuse me? Sure, you’re a priority but how about you nicely inquire as to when I might be free?

I spent a bunch of time agonizing over how this would fit in my travel plans. Chicago was fine, it came the Monday after my official diagnosis. My oncologist wanted to start chemo within a few weeks. My surgeon gave me the option of starting with surgery. One would buy me my travel and the other would not.

My oncologist extended an olive branch. He wanted to do chemo first but he would start me on the “gentle” chemo (lol) instead of the A/C the chemo ever so lovingly referred to as the “red devil”. He sat down with a calendar and sorted how this would work. If I would do dose dense Taxol every two weeks, this would allow both the Charleston and the Bali trips to fall during times of lower side effects.

I like the way this man thinks – and yes, I promise to wear a mask on the airplanes.
